I'm about to begin studying a proofreading and copy-editing course, and I'm looking for some additional experience in this field. I am a native speaker of English and also speak Spanish and some Portuguese.

Although I'm not a qualified proofreader or editor, I do have a year's experience editing a quarterly 36-page magazine for a voluntary organisation. This involves checking contributions sent by members from all backgrounds and making necessary alterations while maintaining the author's intended sense and meaning. The contributions take the form of poetry, essays and news updates.

There will be no charge for proofreading your documents; all I ask is that you are willing to give me a reference in the future when I begin looking for paid work. I would be predominantly interested in work sent electronically, although depending on the location hard copies may be considered.
