Re Computing is a not-for-profit organisation that professionally refurbishes computers and, with strategic partner ComputerAid, sends them to developing countries and those affected by natural disaster.

We also sell fully refurbished machines to help cover our running costs – laptops available from £50 and PC’s from just £35.

RE Computing is also about putting local people first; we are run by volunteers and our aim is to help people who are unemployed but who have difficulties in gaining employment. This may be due to having been out of work for many years due to health problems, mental or physical disabilities, social problems and people who will not be able to work full-time again due to injuries they have suffered in accidents.

The fast-pace of technology means that computers become obsolete and out of date very quickly. Realistically, it can be very difficult to get rid of old computers – they can’t be thrown out as part of everyday waste, they usually can’t be left at the local tip, and charity shops are generally not allowed to accept them.

Re Computing accepts old machines and completely recycles them, ensuring all the parts are utilised to create fully refurbished machines. We fully comply with the WEEE directive which aims to minimise the impact electronic equipment has in its lifetime and when they become waste.
Any company that disposes of 15CRT monitors or more now has a legal obligation to ensure redundant electronic equipment is disposed of in line with the new legislation.
