Finance And Estates Manager
· Advising on general financial policy and, in conjunction with the Headmaster, preparing the School's Business Plan.
· Preparing annual estimates of income and expenditure
· Preparing the annual budget in conjunction with the Headmaster
· Monitoring income and expenditure in relation to budget and presenting regular management reports on them
· Keeping the accounts of the School and in conjunction with the School's accountants ensuring the preparation of Income and Expenditure Accounts and Balance Sheets
Managing the school bank account and any investments
Scrutinising and passing for payment, where appropriate, invoices and statements of account
Pupil bills and fee collection and other dues
Salary payment including PAYE, Superannuation and National Insurance
Keeping analyses of costs and other statistical records
Preparing financial appraisals of particular projects
Dealing with the Schools income tax and rating assessments
Recording and monitoring Departmental spending
Liaising with the Schools accountants when they audit our accounts
Dealing with the schools caterers as required
Health & Safety
The Finance and Estates Manager is the schools Health & Safety Officer and, as such, is responsible to the Headmaster & Governors for ensuring compliance with all Health and Safety requirements to include:
Contributory Pension scheme
5 weeks annual leave
General Management and Administration
Attending meetings of the Governing Body and delegated Governor Committees and taking minutes where appropriate
Chairing the Risk Management Committee
Supervising the Schools insurance in all forms
Maintaining contact, where appropriate, with the Statutory Authorities and with other organisations
Appraising the work of the Accounts Manager on a regular basis
The overall responsibility for school transport
Preparing and drawing up contracts of employment for teaching and non-teaching staff in accordance with such terms and conditions as may be from time to time laid down by the Headmaster and Governors
In consultation with the Headmaster, formulating, implementing and complying with and ensuring the compliance of all members of the non-teaching staff with the Rules of the School and any legislation for the time being in respect of employment protection, discipline, data protection, equal opportunities, sexual harassment and health and safety at work
Buying - either directly or indirectly the principal commodities for consumption or use
Being responsible for the security of the sites
Maintaining contact, where appropriate, with the Statutory Authorities and with other organisations
To act as Company Secretary
In liaison with the Headmaster, dealing with staff accommodation and the letting of property to school employees and third parties
Administering contracts, including those for building works, plant, catering, property letting, fire protection and security systems as required
Ensuring that all works are carried out within preset budgets as agreed with the Headmaster
